Navigating Holiday Stress: How To Protect Your Peace This Christmas
As the holiday season unfolds, we’re reminded of the beauty in embracing life as it is—messy, magical, and full of contrast. This year, I’ve been reflecting on a concept shared by Mel Robbins: "Let them."
- Let them have their beliefs
- Let them be uncomfortable with your boundaries
- Let them choose drama
- Let them believe what they believe
- Let them make their choices
- Let them grow—or not—in their own time…
I’m sure, like me, you have more examples of places to detach;)
The “let them” mindset invites us to release control, stop resisting what we can’t change, and make space for our own peace!
Bring Compassion to the Table
As we gather with others this season—whether in celebration or in spirit—let’s remember the wisdom of the Second Agreement from The Four Agreements: Don’t take things personally. Other people’s opinions, beliefs, and behaviours have nothing to do with us.
Aim to meet people where they’re at, not where you wish they would be. Everyone has their own stress, and most people’s nervous systems are running on empty. Don’t waste your time and energy taking on other people’s stuff!
Instead, protect your peace, bring compassion to the table, and remember that detaching with love creates space for grace—for yourself and others.
Notice your focus this week. Where can you let people be who they are? Where can you choose compassion over control and find joy in the present moment?
If you’re enjoying the season with a light heart and a full home, we wish you moments of laughter, connection, and the deepest Joy.
To those grieving, navigating challenges, or feeling the bittersweet mix of emotions the holidays can bring, we send extra love your way. Remember, you are never alone.
As always, The Joy Club is here to remind you that you are supported, seen, and celebrated. May this season bring you the things you desire (with a touch of sparkle;)
