How To Feel Better When The World Feels Like It’s Falling Apart
How do you feel better when the world feels like it’s falling apart? Sobriety has taught me that in order to feel Joy I must also be willing to feel pain.
The thing is, sometimes the pain is so overwhelming it feels like it could swallow you up.
In places where I feel like I’m falling apart, I find it helpful to bring my attention to my heart and come back to my breath…
Breath is life and it guides us back home to ourselves. Simply closing our eyes and focusing on the breath allows us to reconnect to life force. A force so much bigger than who we think we are.
With so much suffering in the world, it’s normal to feel anxious, sad, and overwhelmed.
If you’re experiencing this, I invite you to take a few quiet moments for yourself and try the following exercise…
- Come back home to yourself as you focus on your breath.
- Ground into the present moment. Simply be here in this moment.
- Focus on your breath. On being right here, right now.
- Connect to your heart and envision love flowing through your entire body until you are overflowing with love.
- Imagine overflowing love extending beyond your body into the room you are in.
- Continue to expand the love in your heart to fill the country.
- Next, expand your love even further and send it to every corner of the world. Send it to those suffering. Send it to those inflicting pain. Send it to those in fear. Send your love to as many people and places as you can imagine. Hold the expansion of your love for a few moments.
When you are ready, bring all of that expanded love back to your heart. Feel yourself wrapped in love, come back to your breath and trust that love will heal. Love is how we bring more light to the world…
In this moment, simply be love, breathe love, and send love.
